Omniweb Ltd is a web development and digital services agency based in Surrey within the M25 orbital motorway around London.
The company specialises in sports web site design although it has a large number of clients in other business sectors. This web site uses “temporary cookies” so that the site remembers what other items are in your “shopping basket”. In this situation a cookie is a small data file containing a single number (and no personal information) this cookie is never re-used. When you close your browser (Internet Explorer/Firefox/Safari etc), the cookie is destroyed.
We also use Google Analytics on our web sites to count traffic visiting the site. This cookie does not know or record any of your personal information, it merely records which pages are visited. This site uses cookies. Cookies are small data tokens that are used to pass information from page to page as you visit a web site.
Omniweb web sites can be built to offer alternative languages, including non-Latin alphabets such as Arabic.
The content management system (CMS) allows web site managers to update the web site in multiple languages. Every piece of text on the site down to the page-loading messages can appear in additional languages.
There is a language processor built into the CMS that takes all the common phrases used in a web site and shows the translations that are set in the secondary (or other) language. Any phrases that are not matched can be translated once and then used throughout the site. If the client's staff are not able to speak the language, these phrases can be sent away for translation and simply pasted into the relevant box.
Adding foreign language stories is very simple. They are added as "sister" pages to the core language version of the story (usually English). The page can use the same pictures and content or different versions. Content can be pasted directly from Microsoft Word documents. This helps in situations where a language uses a lot of accented characters or uses a completely different alphabet, such as Russian, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese etc.
If required, the translation house can be given a low-level access password to amend and correct text remotely via the CMS.
